One thing I learned growing up from Mama Mai: business attire should NEVER be basic. You've heard the saying: "Dress for the job that you want, not the job that you have," right? It's so true. When I was a kid I'd watch Mama Mai throw on her everyday pantsuit, (she had 4 in her closet), but she'd switch it up in such a way that you'd never be able to tell it was the same 4 suits. And each version was attention grabbing, smart, and business savvy. That said, Chelsea (my wonderful stylist on The Real) and I channeled our creative juices to take this pant suit up a notch, literally, to show you how you can spice up what you prolly already have in your closet.
As you can see from the photo below, this was a traditional navy pantsuit set. You can shop any kind, but Im particularly a fan of this brand because EVERY suit is sewn into the perfect slimming shape for women. The pants were OG slim to the ankle, but we hiked it up and had it altered into a perfect lil knicker. This can be done easily by cutting and adding a cinch and elastic band if you're that Martha Stewart type, but if you're me and rather spend nights having cocktails at happy hour, get it done for under $20 at the tailor.
And voila, now you have a pantsuit with flirty fresh attitude perf for a raise. In winter, pair it with opaque tights and a loafer or bootie. Whaddya think of this tip? Would you try it?
